Description
Producer With 700 tonnes of mussels produced each year and 1500 tonnes sold, 50% of which are sourced from small local producers, Vérine has established itself as a reputable company for five generations. Fishmongers, restaurateurs, wholesalers and supermarkets are the main customers, but private customers can also come and buy on the spot. Freshness and superior quality win everyone over. "Being a family-run business means we can share out the various stages, from fishing to packaging and relining. We are also a purifying establishment: when the mussels are unfit for sale, we soak them in basins, treated with U.V., for 24 hours. This ensures that they can be sold," explains Mickael Vérine. Production covers 10 kilometers of bouchot mussel lines and 2.5 kilometers of long-line mussels. A plus for starting production at the beginning of May. Future plans include expansion of the production site on land, acquisition of a local mussel company and recruitment of new staff.
