Gault&Millau's review
With reference to the monks of Clairvaux who were present from 1194 in Colombé-le-Sec, these champagnes are made in an original building of the Abbey. Dating back to the 12th century, the Cellier aux Moines has been classified as a historical monument since 1919. Today, the Calon-Egger family has taken over and obtained naming rights of the cellar. Planted on clay-limestone soils typical in the Côte des Bar, two thirds of the vineyards are Pinot Noir and the rest is Chardonnay. The domain is a member of the Association of Abbey Wines (l'Association des Vins d’Abbayes) and offers a rural cottage to rent.
