Gault&Millau's review
At the end of the 19th century, Paul Hostomme gave up mixed farming to devote himself solely to growing vines and producing grapes. In 1931, in an attempt to escape the economic crisis and poor grape sales, he encouraged his son Marcel to learn winemaking techniques, and they modestly produced their first cuvée, which was marketed under the brand name M. Hostomme. Today, at the head of 15 ha, Paul's great-grandson Laurent and his wife Christelle are at the helm of the family business, which three generations before them have developed by enlarging and diversifying the vineyard and the cuvées. Ageing in vats and barrels gives their champagnes a distinctive style.
