Pure indulgence, with mouth-watering pastry aromas of butter brioche and panettone, stewed mirabelle plums, toasted sliced bread, peach tart, warm baguette... like a tempting showcase from a great name in pastry. After such complexity, the palate seems a little backward, with a bright, acidic texture that balances out with the tenderness of white fruit and oriental pastries (makroud au pruneau, corne de gazelle). The light acidity makes you salivate, and the pretty bitters on the finish leave the palate clean, ready for a second sip. A springtime wine to awaken souls at the end of winter, to be served with sweet and savory dishes.

Larmandier-Bernier

Sophie and Pierre Larmandier have been based in Vertus since 1988. Since 2017, they have been joined by their sons Arthur, then Georges. All three farm biodynamically 19 ha spread over 50 parcels in the Côte des Blancs: Cramant, Chouilly, Oger, Avize en grand cru, Vertus en premier cru. Today, they enjoy a worldwide reputation for their pure, incisive champagnes. The "Terre de Vertus" cuvée is a premier cru from Les Barillers, a mid-slope vineyard in Vertus. Special mention goes to the extra-brut grand cru "Vieille Vigne du Levant" (formerly "Vieille Vigne de Cramant"), which draws its sapid substance from the deep roots of 50-80-year-old vines.
