Gault&Millau's review
As early as the 1920s, in the midst of the global economic crisis, Camille Moutardier was making his own champagne in the Surmelin valley. Today, his granddaughter Élisabeth, along with her sons William and Simon, have successfully set up shop at Le Breuil. They are in charge of the 18 ha of hillside vineyards, planted predominantly with Pinot Meunier, with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir each accounting for 2 ha. Supplies are supplemented by grape purchases. On sale are a wide range of champagnes and three coteaux-champenois, including a rare coteaux rosé. The estate offers good value for money and can be visited weekdays without prior notice, and at weekends by appointment.
