The 2009 vintage is the logical successor to the great 2008. On opening, it seems to have slightly more pronounced woody notes. Nevertheless, this cuvée displays all the finesse and balance of the village's wines. On the palate, the balance is masterly, with a crisp, fruity, almost luminous juice that lengthens to a clean, fresh, surprisingly peppery finish.

Clément and Charlotte Vergnon are continuing the work of their elders without altering the estate’s positioning; since its inception, it has consistently produced only 100% Chardonnay champagnes. Of the estate’s 5.31 hectares, the Vergnon family is fortunate to own plots in some of the finest terroirs, including Vertus, Oger, Avize, and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, where the estate is headquartered. Plot-by-plot management is the first of Clément’s hallmarks in crafting its champagnes. The second is the winemaking process, carried out partly in stainless-steel tanks and/or in 300-liter oak barrels of varying ages.
