Winery presentation by Gault&Millau
Since 1867, four generations have tended these renowned vineyards. Beyond their sparkling wines, the Defrance family has long enjoyed the privilege and mastered the art of crafting the famous Rosé des Riceys. The estate consists primarily of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grape varieties planted across 12 hectares. Christophe Defrance, his wife Marie-Dominique, and more recently their daughter Anne-Sophie are committed to sustainable viticulture in order to bring out the full potential of their land while respecting nature and the terroir. Today, insecticides, botrytis control agents, and herbicides are no longer used, and all the vineyards are cultivated mechanically.
