Herbert Beaufort
The Beaufort family has been growing vines in Champagne since the 16th century, but it was in 1929 that Marcellin and his son Herbert began producing this Bouzy wine. Today, it's the grandsons who are taking over. Hugues Beaufort joined the 14-hectare family domaine in 1990, and was joined by his brother Ludovic in 2002. Since 1982, all cuvees (80% pinot noir and 20% chardonnay) have been vinified without malolactic fermentation. The estate's highly-regarded red Bouzy is aged for a very long two years in fût, foudre or demi-muid. To welcome tourists and enable them to visit Bouzy and the surrounding region, the family offers a large gîte a stone's throw from the estate.
