The nose opens with ripe banana, then coffee, gingerbread, mango and sandalwood. Evocation of immediate richness. With aeration, dried fruit and undergrowth appear. The palate is full-bodied and plays on the greediness of the fruit. The finish is steady, with a few bitters and a certain sweetness. A mature, accessible style.

Gabriel-Pagin Fils

The Gabriel-Pagin estate, run by winemakers who have been harvesting and processing their own grapes from father to son since 1946, spans 9.50 hectares across terroirs classified as Grand Cru and Premier Cru in Avenay-Val-d’Or, Mutigny, Avize, and Cramant. All of the region’s main grape varieties are grown here, with a predominance of Pinot Noir (80%). Here, integrated sustainable viticulture is guided by certain principles: plowed vineyards, no chemical weed control, minimal processing of the must, no added yeast, spontaneous alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, vinification in oak, and extended aging in the cellar. The lineup is relatively limited but is well-conceived and consistent.
