Gault&Millau's review2026
Nestled in the hills above Clermont Ferrand, the majestic Hotel Radio impresses with its splendid 1930s Art Deco building. The journey back in time begins as soon as you enter the elegant, untouched dining room, with modernity reflected in a young, alert service that lacks a little baggage. Chef Wilfrid Chaplain's menu is simple: raw and cooked scampi from the Brittany coast with lime and Espelette pepper, gourmet artichoke on buckwheat paste and arugula ice cream, monkfish from the Brittany coast browned in butter with tarragon-spiked bone juice, or a slightly dry Auvergne pork cooked in a pan. The two desserts, with apricot, rosemary and meringue, or blackcurrant and vanilla, are very tasty. A fine wine list with prestigious bottles, the selection by the glass depends on the choice of the sommelier, who is generally confident in his choices.
