Château d'Audrieu, a holiday combining history and well-being

Château d'Audrieu, a holiday combining history and well-being

When the woodwork tells the story and the gardens open up like pages, Château d'Audrieu becomes more than just a place to stay. It becomes the story of an elegant, lively and delicious Normandy.

Emilie Lesur

You cross the driveway lined with century-old trees, and already the Château d'Audrieu looms majestically into view. The scent of apple trees from the neighboring orchard wafts through the air, and on the reception table, a glass of apple juice from Domaine de la Flaguerie invites you to put down your bags and slow down. Here, every moment is worth savouring.

An estate rich in history

Every step inside the château tells the story of centuries of history. built in the 18th century on medieval foundations, Château d'Audrieu is a listed historic monument and a member of Relais & Châteaux, a guarantee of its refinement and hospitality. It was successively the home of the de Percy and de Séran families. The side staircases, rocaille woodwork and large fireplaces - some still in use in the winter months - bear witness to this rich past.

Today, these living stones are home to 30 rooms and suites, where the old blends harmoniously with contemporary touches: mirrors at the entrance to the restaurant, armchairs upholstered in bouclette or leopard print, and a warmly modern choice of paint - such as the Egyptian red on the wall of the gourmet restaurant - respect the heritage of the place. Children will be enchanted by the cuddly toys offered in a nod to the estate's two donkeys, Nono and Zoé, as well as by the outdoor games and books installed in the reception area. Pets are also welcome, adding a touch of freedom and conviviality.

An invitation to well-being

In the bedroom, everything invites you to relax. Lie down on Charlotte Muller's NASA-derived infrared mattress and your body relaxes, stress evaporates. The Dream Machine takes you on an immobile journey to the heart of your unconscious, between relaxation and luminous poetry. A weighted blanket, a meditation box, sensory equipment... everything is designed to help body and mind find balance and serenity for the duration of your stay. And if the sun comes out during the day, a few dips in the pool will prolong the feeling of lightness and well-being.

The 25-hectare estate offers nature as a playground for exploration. Put on your sneakers for a jog through the woods, hop on a mountain bike for a ride through the surrounding countryside, or simply lose yourself in the small rose garden, the soothing white garden or the chef's aromatic vegetable garden. In the midst of these green settings, Château d'Audrieu offers picnic lunches with a choice of a classic ham-and-butter menu, or a freshly prepared plant-based menu prepared by chef Samuel Gaspar.

At Le Séran restaurant, local produce from the château's kitchen garden is transformed into refined dishes. The chef celebrates the terroir with flair. At Bar 1715, you can indulge in a drink, a chat or just gaze at the ancient stones bathed in light. Everything here is designed to awaken the senses and nourish curiosity.

The château is ideally located: just a stone's throw from Bayeux, where you can stroll through the old town, browse the museums or enjoy lunch on the terrace. On the road to Caen, the Normandy countryside offers a landscape full of discoveries. And for sea lovers, the beaches of Asnelles and Courseulles-sur-Mer are perfect for a stroll, a swim or a moment of contemplation overlooking the English Channel.
