Akrame Benallal and Peugeot Voyages create a suitcase specially designed for chefs

Peugeot Voyages and chef Akrame Benallal have teamed up to design a suitcase specially for traveling chefs. Here are its special features.

Mathilde Bourge

Whether to discover new culinary cultures, explore the world of spices or manage their restaurants abroad, some chefs are increasingly called upon to travel all over France and the world. To facilitate their travels, the Peugeot Voyages brand has teamed up with Akrame Benallal to design a "suitcase-luggage", with features perfectly suited to the needs of adventurous cooks.

A compartment for knives

This suitcase, christened Trunk, was born of a shared desire byAkrame Benallal(4 toques) and Peugeot Voyages to create a practical piece of luggage for nomadic chefs. "I'd been wanting to design a bulky, intelligent travel case for chefs for a long time. This great opportunity presented itself and I was given carte blanche to create it with the brand's designer", explains the chef, who travels extensively to look after his establishments abroad, in Hong Kong, Doha and Istanbul.

In terms of design, Akrame Benallal wanted a matte-black case, perfectly in tune with his world, with an integrated pouch for carrying his knives. "I take them everywhere with me, when I do 4-hands with another chef or other outside services", he stresses. For a personalized experience, each chef receives a silver address plate and a matching pepper mill. Two integrated TSA combination locks also provide extra security for valuables or treasures brought back by chefs from their travels. "When I travel, I like to hunt for crockery or spices, for example. The compartment is big enough to take a lot of stuff home with you." Storage for cooking jackets and aprons is also included, and the luggage can withstand temperatures from +60°C to 20°C. One more tool to make daily life easier for chefs!
