Levures et soufre signent le premier nez. Discret au premier abord, le nez révèle petit à petit des arômes de fruits blancs frais puis un côté plus exotique, sur la banane verte, et le thé à la bergamote. En bouche, sous des bulles fines, le dosage apporte sa rondeur dans une matière aux bulles évanescentes avant une finale sur la gourmandise.

Avec un vignoble de 242 ha sur 410 parcelles, dont près de 70% en grand cru, la maison, née en 1776, s’assure une belle diversité d’approvisionnement. La marque s’inscrit depuis une vingtaine d’années dans une démarche de conversion vers le bio et la biodynamie. Ainsi, 115 ha sont certifiés en bio depuis la vendange 2021. Les vins, plutôt dominés par le pinot noir, sont vieillis en foudres de chêne et les stocks de réserve sont d’une importance capitale pour le brut premier, l’un des meilleurs BSA (brut sans année) de la région. Ces dernières années, Frédéric Rouzaud, président de Louis Roederer, et le chef de cave, Jean-Baptiste Lecaillon, ont effectué un travail remarquable sur toute la gamme, lui apportant encore davantage de finesse.
