The cherry red robe with vermillion highlights is almost opaque, like the round red berries on the nose (plums, maraschino Italian sour cherries, blackberries), and glazed sour dough buns. The bubbles and mousse alternate between crunchy and smooth textures (finely powdered black tea tannins) in a supporting role in the mouth, but stay fresh and soufflée. The fruits darken to blue berries and cassis on the softly layered horizontal line through the palate, with delicate and airy lightness, salivating satin sensations. A fresh, powerful, vinous wine, with lingering bubbles cascading over a gently lemon fall at the end. The long final of fragrant perfume essences is stronger than on the nose.

Sourdet-Diot

In 1962, Raymond Sourdet and his wife planted a few vines at La Chapelle-Monthodon, between Épernay and Château-Thierry. They sold all their grapes to champagne houses. In 1975, their son Patrick and his wife Nadine Diot decided to bottle their own production and created the Sourdet-Diot champagne house. Ludivine Sourdet, from the third generation, joined the domaine in 2008. Gradually, new equipment is installed to improve quality. Some cuvées are matured in foudres and oak barrels. The 8.6-hectare estate was awarded HVE3 certification in 2020.
