Gault&Millau's review
Pierre Legras was born in 1662 in Chouilly, and with him began a family winegrowing tradition. After obtaining a national diploma in oenology, and as a tribute to his ancestor, Vincent - representing the eleventh generation - created the Pierre Legras champagne brand in 2002 with 5 ha of vines. With his father, he expanded the estate to 10.5 ha, including 7 ha in the Chouilly Grand Cru. In 2011, his wife Marcelline joins him. Chardonnay, of course, forms the backbone of the estate's wines, but Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier also play a part in the flavors. The wines are vinified in a series of small, temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, with malolactic fermentation (MLF) systematically pursued to preserve fruitiness and roundness. It will be certified HVE3 in 2020.
