Gault&Millau's review
The Legras family has been winemakers from father to son for eleven generations. After training at the Lycée Viticole d'Avize and obtaining a national diploma in oenology, Vincent created the Pierre Legras champagne brand in 2002, as a tribute to his distant ancestor. Assisted by his father, he developed the estate over the years. The estate grew from 5 to over 10 hectares, including 7 in the Chouilly Grand Cru. Chardonnay, of course, is the backbone of the estate's wines, but Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier also play a part in the flavors. The wines are vinified in a series of small, temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, with MLF systematically sought to preserve fruitiness and roundness.
