Marquis de Pomereuil
In 1922, faced with the difficulties encountered in selling their wines, fourteen winemakers from les Riceys decided to join forces and created the Cave coopérative des Riceys. At the time, white wines were made for the negotiants of Champagne, red wines, and the famous rosés des Riceys. From 1923, the cellar started producing its first champagnes sold mainly on the local market, in Paris, in Belgium and in the north of France. In the 60s the brand Marquis de Pomereuil was created, inspired by the name of the eighteenth century Lord of Riceys. The cooperative benefits from modern installations and qualitative press and vinification facilities, as well as the supply of 95 hectares cultivated by 55 winegrowers.
