Winery presentation by Gault&Millau
Northeast of Reims, the village of Berru in the Montagne de Reims is home to Jacques Picard Champagne, which rightfully bears the title of “artisan winemaker,” carried on by Fiona and Corinne. Their vineyards are historically located in Berru—renowned for its Chardonnay—in Avenay-Val-d’Or, a Pinot Noir Premier Cru not far from Épernay, and in Montbré, deep in the Montagne de Reims, where the various plots are planted with Pinot Noir and Meunier. The house’s style? Cuvées dominated by Chardonnay, as well as single-vineyard wines, complemented by white Coteaux Champenois and Ratafia.
