Francis Orban

Francis Orban - Millésime
92 / 100 Champagne
Vintage : 2012
Classification : Blanc
Color :
Effervescent blanc
Budget : 25€ to 45€
Gault&Millau's review 2020
A successful blend of Pinot Meunier (20%) and Chardonnay (80%)! With its brilliant gold color, this cuvée reveals aromas of smoke, humus and bracken, accentuated by the finesse of baked apples with almonds. The palate, with its lively, straightforward attack, is very complex, marked by limestone. Still very restrained, despite a lingering finish of pretty bitterness, this delicious cuvée deserves to be kept in reserve. Pair it with very noble dishes, such as langoustine carpaccio with smoked oil, sprinkled with borage flowers and fleur de sel.

Francis Orban
Francis Orban
An atypical commune in the Marne valley, Leuvrigny has been home to the Orban champagne house since 1929. In this microclimate combined with an exceptional terroir favorable to Pinot Meunier, the Orban family was the first to elevate vines to the rank of champagne. It's a passion that has been passed down through four generations, playing on the softness, elegance and nobility of the estate's authentic savoir-faire. Francis Orban has been at the helm of the estate since 1999, and his own brand was launched in 2007. Be careful not to confuse Francis and Geoffrey Orban, the latter being a consultant and trainer in geosensory tasting. All wines from Francis Orban and his estate are highly recommendable.
