A rarity: a pure meunier produced in 900 units, of which Colline de Montgueux owns only a few ares. The nose is superb, with fine, evanescent scents of fresh fruit and wilted flowers. All finesse and discretion. On the palate, the liveliness of the bubbles is surprising, but gives way to an ample, powerful and rich volume. A Belle Hélène that's a pleasure to drink on its own.

The vineyard, cultivated for four generations, has been planted since 1919 on the hill of Montgueux, near Troyes, where the appellation was obtained by Hélène's grandfather, Léon. The cuvées are made from 45-year-old vines, mostly Chardonnays planted on clay-limestone soil from the Upper Cretaceous period. The Beaugrands have opted for integrated viticulture, favoring grass cover.
