Gault&Millau's review2026
This family-run Quercy inn (5ᵉ generations of the Chambon family) has a certain charm, thanks to its location (the Ouysse and its collapsed bridge, Belcastel castle on the heights, the large shaded terrace) and its history. Matthieu is always in the dining room, and his brother Stéphane in the kitchen. Their kind mother also works a few hours a day at the hotel reception. Stéphane Chambon's cuisine is as seductive as ever, in the rustic-chic style we love. And even if the menu still includes some classics (duck carpaccio, stuffed pig's trotters, "bonne maman" pan-fried foie gras, langoustine tails), it evolves regularly, allowing us to appreciate this year's fleur de zucchini with pike mousseline, snacked shrimp, light shellfish cream with lemon balm, Causse snails with watercress cream, crepinette of pig's trotters and chard, and even the addictive dessert of rhubarb iced vacherin, raspberry jelly, red fruit sorbet, Breton shortbread and mascarpone siphon. Nice overall service (appetizers, hors d'oeuvres, mignardises), strong wine list, especially from the South-West, with a young sommelier up to the task, among a good level of service, a little school, but very kind.
