Gault&Millau's review 2026

This cozy chalet halfway between Thônes and La Clusaz, named after the piles of stones that guide hikers, has become one of the most attractive restaurants in the valley in just a few years. It sells out every service, and the least we can say is that the young, caring couple formed by Charline (alone in the dining room, with a permanent smile) and Adrien (alone in the kitchen, Jeune Talent Gault&Millau in 2022) pull off an incredible tour de force to dazzle the twenty or so lucky diners. Two surprise menus (4 or 6 stages, plus appetizers and mignardises) take them on lovely excursions to local producers. Lake Annecy fera, for example, is served with cauliflower and trout roe; M. Murgat's Arctic char blossoms in a hazelnut butter with cider vinegar (we're on the verge of three toques); Marigny Saint Marcel beef is prepared in two ways: just seared (melting in the mouth) and in a cassolette, like a pot au feu (comforting as can be), with rutabaga pulp, potato emulsion and tarragon. It's all delicious, modern, daring and technically impeccable, and more than justifies the two toques. The desserts are of the same ilk, with juniper-infused crème brûlée with lemon condiment, or the perfect combination of chocolate (from Poco a Poco) and candied orange. Charline will also guide you through the wine list's hundred or so specialized references, highlighting the nuggets of Savoie. Ultimate bonuses: the fireplace in winter (revived regularly by Adrien) and the shady terrace for sunny days!
