Gault&Millau's review 2026

It is no slight to his monumental career to reiterate just how much Jacques Chibois is, in Guy Savoy’s words, a “Gault&Millau baby.” The guide first discovered him in the 1980s in Cannes, and he is one of the very few chefs to have been awarded the title of Chef of the Year twice—in 1989 at the Gray d’Albion, and then in 1997 at his own restaurant, the beautiful Bastide Saint-Antoine, where he has been thriving for thirty years. La Bastide, with its outdoor seating, its chic and welcoming Provençal farmhouse charm, and a beautiful view of the Cannes countryside, delivers on its promise on the plate. A wonderful variety of menus lets you experience the restaurant—from everyday dishes to signature creations, including the grand “Senteurs” menu at 149 € (a five-course meal) that’s also available à la carte: truffle and shellfish ravioli in consommé, confit octopus with creamy lemon, socca, and parsley sorbet; sea bass fillet with peas and verbena; ribeye with anchovy cream, polenta, chanterelles, and celery; and a coconut crisp with flambéed pineapple. An extensive wine cellar featuring selections from all regions across a wide price range, with service befitting a top-tier establishment.
