Gault&Millau's review 2026

Just a few minutes from Le Clos Lucé and the Château d'Amboise, this 4* hotel extends the pleasures of history with its magnificent 13th-century château, remodeled in the Renaissance period. It's an experience in time, of course, but not only, with Arnaud Philippon's fine table, set in a magnificent room with preserved decor. The chef expresses a fine vision of regional and French gastronomy, with flawless classics and welcome contemporary touches. The menu is on the right scale, with a regressive pot de crème with local ceps, corn and hibiscus, followed by blue lobster puff pastry with Saint-Genouph tomatoes and basil, and mallard duck with celeriac and grapes. We finish with a lovely hot soufflé with Touraine blackcurrants and sorbet. Well-stocked wine list, with a good local selection.
