Prestige Restaurant It only took a year of patience for Franc Derouet, Laurent Petit's right-hand man for so long, to win back the four toques of Le Clos des Sens, in this pretty mansion in old Annecy, overlooking the town. Whether on the terrace, a little corner of paradise protected by two hundred-year-old chestnut trees overlooking the lake, or in the elegant dining room, the concept of "plant and lake" delivers on its promise of enchantment. We salivate as we watch the brigade busy themselves with the "Savoy mushroom flight", a veritable work of art in its three-dimensional construction, of great and subtle gustatory power, just as we salute the Arctic char and vegetable curry in homage to the terroir. Four toques also for imaginative dishes such as cauliflower sucs and poutargue with féra prepared on site. And while we weren't quite as enthralled by the chicory tart, Thomas Lorival's work in the dining room is as compelling as ever, with his warm welcome, his attentiveness and his erudition on a wine list largely built around the region.
