Remarkable Restaurant Anyone who has been to this model farm knows: there's a special atmosphere here, creating a kind of solemn communion of rustic epicureanism. Michel Guérard launched this gourmet farm over thirty years ago, in a magnificent 18th-century building that lends itself perfectly to the exercise, with its large fireplace, rotisserie, upstairs dining room and garden terrace, in the calm of the Prés d'Eugénie estate. There's the successful decor designed by Christine and Michel, and then there's the authentic country cooking that makes it an unrivalled ideal: the pâté en croûte stuffed with foie gras and duck in armagnac, the delicious foie gras, the vol-au-vent in supreme sauce, with sweetbreads, poultry and foie gras, and another must-try, the cochon de lait à l'âtre, "stuffed as in Castile", which was one of the first star dishes of the place, flanked here by an addictive purée and devilishly greedy macaroni. This fantastically chic ripaille concludes with strawberry charlotte or "fresh from the oven" rhubarb tartelette. All this is washed down with wines from the estate, and the service is totally in tune with the mood, complicit and full of enthusiasm and concern.
