Champagne Yannick Prévoteau

In Damery, in the heart of the Marne Valley, farm manager Yannick Prévoteau continues his family's five-generation winemaking tradition.

In Champagne, the wine trade continues to be one of the pillars of the wine economy. However, many winegrowers are not involved in the trade. As harvesters and handlers, they cultivate their vines, vinify their grapes, and produce and sell their own champagnes. This is the case of Yannick Prévoteau, at the head of an estate whose vineyards extend over 9.5 hectares, 10 communes, and multiple parcels planted on a variety of terroirs. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, the three flagship grape varieties of Champagne, are grown in equal proportions on the estate. With their grapes, Yannick creates two ranges of champagnes: Les Classiques, in memory and in line with the work of previous generations, and Les Confidentiels, envisaged as a much more personal interpretation, with quite singular cuvées. Examples include Alter Ego, a 100% Pinot Meunier from an organic plot, fermented with indigenous yeasts, and Solera, from a perpetual reserve started in 1981.
