Rodolphe REGNAULD
Chef : 1 restaurantAfter studying cooking and room service, Rodolphe Regnauld joined the brigade at the Auberge des Montagnes, in Pailherols (Cantal), for three summers. Then it was time for his military service, which he performed with a mine hunter. After working as a cook, then as the commander's butler for ten months, the young man decided to enter the École de maistrance to become a submarine cook. "In the meantime, I came across an advertisement for a chef de partie in Lamballe. I called, but the position was already taken. On theother hand, the chef's position was available..."He hesitated, but accepted. At the age of 21, he took charge of the kitchens at the Hôtel d'Angleterre in Lamballe (Côtes-d'Armor).
"After a while, I told myself that I hadn't finished my training, that I'd skipped some stages, so I went back for seasons."I headed for Le Chamois d'Or, in Cordon (Haute-Savoie), and for Philippe Chevrier's Domaine de Châteauvieux in Switzerland. It was here that Rodolphe Regnauld met his future wife, Christelle. Together, they became managers and assistant managers, learning how to run a hotel-restaurant. This experience continued in Poitiers (at the Quick Palace hotel), then in Le Mans (at the Hôtel Comfort-Inn Primevère).
In 2005, the couple took the plunge and took over the Auberge du Pont, in Pont-du-Château (Puy-de-Dôme), a beautiful 1835 building owned by Jean-Marc Pourcher, then president of the Toques d'Auvergne association. Since then, the chef has earned the title of Master Restaurateur, as well as the Jeune Talent and Tradition d'Aujourd'hui Gault&Millau trophies.
In 2021, he had to deal with the death of his sommelier, Philippe Bonhomme, as well as that of Jean-Marc Pourcher. A fire even broke out in his restaurant that same year. But the inn held firm and reopened in July 2022, just a few months before Rodolphe Regnauld took his turn as president of the Toques d'Auvergne for the Puy-de-Dôme region. A fitting tribute to his friend.
