François CHAUMONT
An almost solitary winegrower, François Chaumont showcases the Puisieulx Grand Cru in four cuvées, fresh, straightforward champagnes with low dosage, marketed in their youth. His estate is certified HVE level 3.
His parents owned vines, but did not farm them themselves. François Chaumont began growing vines in 1994 with a few hectares at Puisieulx, surely the most confidential of the Champagne grands crus because it's the smallest! With a BTS in Viti-Oeno, among other qualifications, he went on to build up a wealth of experience. In 2008, he decided to keep some of his grapes - he delivers the rest to the cooperative - for himself, in order to create his own champagne. Today, he continues along this path, producing four "single-vineyard" cuvées: a blanc de blancs, a 100% pinot noir blanc de noirs in brut and extra brut, and a rosé also made exclusively from pinot noir. Although his vineyards are located in Puisieulx, on the northern slopes of the Grande Montagne de Reims, he takes advantage of the facilities of Champagne Michel Littière, owned by his in-laws in the Marne valley, to vinify.
