Florent ROQUES-BOIZEL
Its headquarters are located on the famous Avenue de Champagne, in Epernay. Founded in 1834, Champagne Boizel is today run by Florent Roques-Boizel, Chairman and CEO, and his brother Lionel, General Manager. It was surely written that Florent Roques-Boizel would one day take over the reins of the family business. Before joining the family business, however, he spent part of his career elsewhere: in Grenoble for part of his studies, in New Zealand to work in wine importing, then four years with Chapoutier in the Rhône Valley. In 2010, he returned to the fold, followed by his brother in 2012, to gradually take over from their parents, who retired in 2018. Champagne Boizel owns seven hectares of vines on the Côte des Blancs and in the Marne Valley, but historically, the house has bought grapes from growers. Today, it buys mainly from 80 hectares within a 30-kilometer radius of Epernay, with Chardonnays on the Côte des Blancs, Pinot Noirs on the Montagne de Reims and Pinot Meuniers in the Vallée de la Marne. The Boizel signature is based on the finesse, elegance and balance of champagnes that are generally low in dosage, aged on lees for three to twelve years, depending on the cuvée. " We adapt according to the harvest, but the great terroirs need time to express themselves," explains Florent. And while the company continues to celebrate the Champagne know-how of blending, it is now also focusing on very specific terroirs, with new "mono-cru" cuvées.
