Florence PÉRIER
Chef : 1 restaurant Florence Périer, a worthy heiress of Lyon's mothers, runs Le Café du Peintre in Lyon, one of those inns we love so much.Born on the slopes of the Croix-Rousse in the early 1960s, Florence Périergrewup surrounded by pots and pans in the family restaurantChez Périer. Her mother ran the kitchen while her fatherworked in the abattoir. when I was just 6 or 7 years old," she recalls, "at lunchtime and on days when I didn't have school, I worked as a waiter in this very traditional restaurant, where white-collar and blue-collar workers rubbed shoulders. It was a joyful time, which I didn't experience as a constraint. "
In 2009, Florence Périer opened Le Café du Peintre, between Part-Dieu and Brotteaux .
Café Périer no longer exists, but for Florence Périer, there was never any question of leaving the restaurant business. "I'm a true innkeeper. After working for a long time alongside my ex-husband, Christian Têtedoie, I opened my own restaurant in 2009, between the Part-Dieu and Brotteauxdistricts, an area of Lyon that I adore. We don't offer anything extraordinary," she adds modestly, " but everything is homemade, with a lot of love and beautiful products. "
Over the years, Le Café du Peintre has been able to expand by annexing the neighboring locksmith's shop, and Maxime, the son with a passion for wine, has joined his mother in patiently building a cellar that now exceeds 1,200 references. Even if retirement isn't just around the corner, Florence Périer is already actively working to pass on her business to her children - "without, of course, harming anyone", continues this ever-passionate cook. Gault&Millauawarded her theTradition d'Aujourd'hui Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes 2025trophy.
