Fanny GEORGET
Sommelier : 1 restaurantFanny Georget grew up in Beaupréau, in the Mauges region between Nantes and Angers, in a family that ran a car garage. "I had an uncle who was a hotelier and lived not far from my parents. As a teenager, I came to help my aunt in the dining room, during school periods. She had learned the trade on the job. Certain customers were sometimes hard on her, and I swore to myself that I would pay her tribute by taking up the same career path she had."
In the mid-1980s, Fanny Georget enrolled at the famous Lycée des Métiers Sainte-Anne in Saint-Nazaire, before moving on to the CFA in Angers, where she took a work-study vocational baccalaureate. "By that time, I'd already met my husband. Once out of school, we worked in various positions, including at Château d'Esclimont, a Relais & Châteaux in Eure-et-Loir. I was a mother, so we organized our shifts as best we could."
In 2000, after several other experiences and a few years in the catering industry, the couple decided to set up on their own. "My husband was working at Eurest seven days a week. We might as well be our own bosses. We had the opportunity to buy L'Hostellerie d'Acquigny, in the Eure region, at the end of 2000. Since then, we've extensively transformed and modernized it, in particular by recreating an accommodation offer, which no longer existed when we acquired the establishment."
Even if, like many other restaurateurs, the couple are facing recruitment difficulties ("I've had a loyal waitress for several years now, but I've got all the women I need.I've had a loyal waitress for several years, but I'm having the hardest time in the world recruiting"), Fanny Georget is as enthusiastic in the dining room as she was in the early days, always professional and smiling. Gault&Millau rewarded her with the Accueil Normandie 2023 trophy.
