Chef : 1 restaurant A former executive in the digital printing industry who switched careers to become a restaurateur, Christophe Termont opened Le Moulin de Saint-Vérand in 2020 after three years of training, and now works in the kitchen.

Presentation

Born in Belgium in the late 1960s, Christophe Termont spent many years working in the digital printing industry before leaving it all behind as he approached his fifties. What sparked the change? A trip to Saône-et-Loire in 2018, on the way to their second home in the Ardèche, when they passed by the Moulin de Saint-Vérand, a hotel-restaurant whose garden overlooks the vineyards of the Mâconnais. “ My wife and I had been thinking about it for a long time, but as we approached our fifties, with our children no longer dependent on us, we were finally able to take the plunge.”

But not without a safety net. Christophe committed to three years of study in Belgium to earn a degree in restaurant management, completed a lengthy internship with an experienced Belgian chef, and surrounded himself with seasoned chefs right from the opening on July 1, 2020. First came a young chef—who has since left to join Mallory Gabsi in Paris—followed by that trusted Belgian chef.

In the kitchen out of conviction

Since early 2026, Christophe Termont has taken over as chef— “partly out of necessity, but also out of a desire to step into my role.” He also oversees the dining room alongside his wife, Natalie. With a base of regulars at the restaurant and travelers staying at the hotel, Le Moulin has found its rhythm—and so has he.
