Christine SILVESTRE
In Nogent-l'Abbesse, Christine Silvestre is the manager and winemaker of a property of just a few hectares. Her respect for tradition goes hand in hand with her respect for the environment, as demonstrated by her HVE and Viticulture Durable en Champagne (VDC) certifications.Just ten kilometers from Reims, Nogent-l'Abbesse is a small village nestled in the shadow of the Mont de Berru. It's here that Christine Silvestre, accompanied by her husband Paul, who is in charge of the commercial side of the business, perpetuates the family winegrowing heritage. In 1959, her great-grandfather Henri began planting vines, followed by subsequent generations. In 2000, the time came for Christine to take over from her grandmother, who had reached retirement age. The chalky soil of the local terroir is particularly well-suited to growing Chardonnay, the estate's exclusive grape variety on 3.80 hectares. The Gabriel Merreaux Champagne range, developed in collaboration with the local cooperative? L'Eclat de la jeunesse, available in three versions, brut, extra-brut and demi-sec; Brut Réserve, aged a minimum of 36 months in the cellar; a rosé made from chardonnay and pinot noir from the other side of the Montagne de Reims, a vintage cuvée and a cuvée vieilles vignes. Soon, a cuvée parcellaire will also see the light of day. We can't wait to taste it!
