Yoann Conte named Chef of the Year 2024 by Gault&Millau

Chef Yoann Conte, head of his restaurant of the same name in Veyrier-du-Lac, is the new Chef of the Year 2024. Read his reaction.

A dream come true! Yoann Conte was named Gault&Millau Chef of the Year 2024 at the annual gala held at the Pavillon d'Armenonville in Paris.

"I'm so proud to be here in front of you. I love you all, I'm a fan of you, a fan of your cooking. I'd like to thank Marc Esquerré for kicking my butt. I'm thinking of Marc Veyrat, because he believed in me. And last but not least, thank you to my teams, who are also the Team of the Year. I love you all! I love you all!" he said, very moved and with a smile on his face, on stage. The trophy was presented to him by our partner Laurent-Perrier.

From an envelope to consecration

"I'd be very, very proud and honored," the chef told us a few weeks ago, when we shot his portrait. The chef can be. Yoann Conte is a well-known chef who heads up his namesake restaurant in Veyrier-du-Lac, Haute-Savoie. There, he arrived with a small envelope to realize "his ultimate dream": to settle down. His friend and chef Marc Veyrat heard of his quest and invited him to come to his Auberge de l'Eridan, on the shores of Lake Annecy. Yoann Conte has now been working there for thirteen years.

Gault&Millau gave him a 19/20 rating and awarded him 5 toques in the Guide Jaune. You may also have caught a glimpse of him on M6, where he appears as a juror on "Objectif Top Chef", or as a competitor - and we know he loves it - on "Snack Masters".

A huge well done to Olivier Bellin, chef at the Auberge des Glazicks in Plomodiern, Olivier Couvin, chef at the Maison Paul Bocuse alongside Gilles Reinhardt, and Jérôme Banctel, chef of Gabriel restaurant at La Réserve in Paris, who were also nominated in the Chef of the Year 2024 category for their talent and daily work.
