The Centre national de la gastronomie française to open soon in Lyon

On Wednesday January 15, 2025, the official agreement to launch the Centre national de la gastronomie française was signed, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

Already recognized as the capital of French gastronomy, Lyon is preparing to welcome a project of international scope: the Centre national de la gastronomie française. Conceived by Emmanuel Macron following France's victory at the 2021 Bocuse d'Or, this center is destined to become a major training hub for future culinary talent. The goal: to make France a global benchmark for gastronomic training.

On Wednesday January 15, 2025, Fabienne Buccio, Prefect of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, signed the agreement establishing the public interest grouping (GIP), along with professional organizations from the culinary professions and other public partners. This gesture officially marks the launch of the project.

Strengthening French excellence

The aim of the Centre national de la gastronomie française will be to train the future "athletes" of gastronomy for culinary competitions, offering them specialized courses in culinary techniques, establishment management and preparation for major international competitions. In addition to its educational vocation, the center aims to promote the country's gastronomy on a global scale. In particular, it aims to strengthen France's presence at international trade fairs and events, and shine the spotlight on haute gastronomie around the world.

To support this ambitious project, 27 million euros have been mobilized: 9 million by the French State, 15 million by the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and 3 million by the Metropole of Lyon.

While the signing of the GIP marks a decisive step, the project is still in the development stage. No opening date has yet been set.
