Anne-Sophie Pic: “I eat to feed others”
Anne-Sophie Pic is starting a new chapter in Paris, at the Cartier Foundation for Contemporary Art. This is an opportunity for France’s favorite female chef—according to an Ipsos survey published last spring—to unveil and share her passions for art, fragrance, aromatics, and everyone’s well-being.
On September 18, you opened a new restaurant in Paris at the Cartier Foundation for Contemporary Art. How did this project come about?
Anne-Sophie Pic: Three years ago, David and I received a call from Alain-Dominique Perrin, president and founder of the Cartier Foundation for Contemporary Art. He informed us that the Foundation, then located on Boulevard Raspail (14th arrondissement), would be moving to Place du Palais-Royal (1st arrondissement) into the former Louvre des Antiquaires. And he added that, given the space and the layout, there was potential to create a restaurant.
Did the opening of this new establishment, in effect, lead to the closure of your restaurant, La Dame de Pic, located just a few streets away?
A-S. P.: It was more of a coincidence in timing. At that time, we were reevaluating La Dame de Pic, which we had opened in 2012. When we visited the Foundation’s premises, we realized it would be impossible to replicate La Dame de Pic there. The idea naturally emerged to conceive a new project in harmony with the space, which I find inspiring and where I sense a certain energy. So it was time to close La Dame de Pic and open a new chapter under the name Anne-Sophie Pic Paris.
