Second leg of Wine Tour 2017. This time, it's off to the Château d'Or et de Gueules to once again bring together chefs and wine professionals.

R

n keeping with Gault&Millau's unwavering commitment to bringing together all those involved in gastronomy, the Wine Tour brings together the region's top chefs, passionate sommeliers and wine merchants, and of course the French winemakers who best symbolize the region's wine production.

The beginnings of the Wine Tour

Because most of the restaurants selected in the Gault&Millau Guide don't have sommeliers, or don't have the time to discover new nuggets on a regular basis... Because there is no marketplace dedicated to wines or catering... Because access to restaurant wine lists is sometimes difficult for winemakers... Gault&Millau decided to bring together these two professions, undisputed players in French gastronomy.

The Wine Tour and the Trophées des Talents du Vin

Each year, the Wine Tour showcases 5 French wine-growing regions in 5 stages. The tour began last November at Château Soucherie in the Loire region and continues in Languedoc-Roussillon-Rhône on February 13, 2017. The tour will continue in the Bordeaux region in March 2016 and Alsace in April 2017. The Tour de France du vin will conclude with a stop in Paris in October 2017.

Over the course of a day, chefs, sommeliers and wine merchants embark on a genuine wine journey through :

- Wine tastings selected by regional Gault&Millau ambassadors.

- Speed-dating with winemakers to deepen the tasting experience.

The day is also punctuated by the presentation of the Talents du Vin awards. The aim is to reward the most talented chefs, sommeliers and wine merchants in their region, and to shine a spotlight on their establishments by highlighting their skills and know-how.
