This man from Lille bet on kombucha before anyone else did
A stone's throw from Lille, a brewery unlike any other in the land of beer. Charles Dumeignil and Guillaume Limousin brew modern, creative kombuchas that are tasteful, organic and natural under the Loven brand, a contraction of love and levend, which in Flemish means "living"
When Charles Dumeignil set up his kombucha brewery in 2019 in Phalempin, south of Lille, he was the first in the Hauts-de-France region to venture into this market. With its low sugar content, high probiotic content and short, reassuring list of ingredients, kombucha is winning over a wide audience, and offers brewers a glimpse of the market to come.
Canadian firsts
in Wambrechies, as soon as you open the door to the brewery, you can smell the powerful aroma of mint:"We received the parcels this morning, and we're using the leaves to infuse one of our kombuchas", explains Guillaume Limousin. The premises, which serve as a store, office, kitchen and even an experiment room, open onto the production room where the tanks are waiting to be filled.
