Gault&Millau's review 2025

Inaugurated in 1835 opposite the Tuileries Gardens, the capital's oldest palace was for many years the preferred refuge of visiting kings and queens, before becoming the home of the international intelligentsia. The painter Dalí had his year-round room here, and Malraux and Paul Morand held their literary dinners here. Now owned by the Dorchester Group, the hotel has preserved its Louis XVI decor (stucco, marble and gilded woodwork), which blends wittily with more contemporary works, such as the monumental fresco by Ara Starck adorning the ceiling of the Le Dalí restaurant. The 160 rooms and suites boast the same classic luxury, with splendid views over the foliage of the Tuileries gardens. The final assets of this legendary address are an exceptional Valmont spa and the crème de la crème of French gastronomy, with a table orchestrated by Alain Ducasse and creations by pastry chef Cédric Grolet.
