Gault&Millau's review 2025

Opened in 1835 across from the Tuileries Garden, the capital’s oldest luxury hotel was long the favorite retreat of kings and queens visiting Paris before becoming a favorite haunt of the international intelligentsia. The painter Dalí had a room there year-round, while Malraux and Paul Morand hosted their literary dinners there. Now owned by the Dorchester Group, the hotel has preserved its Louis XVI décor (stucco, marble, and gilded woodwork) intact, which blends artfully with more contemporary works, such as the monumental fresco by Ara Starck that adorns the ceiling of the restaurant Le Dalí. The 160 rooms and suites embody this same classic luxury, offering splendid views of the leafy Tuileries Gardens. The final highlights of this legendary hotel include the exceptional La Maison Valmont spa and the very best of French gastronomy, featuring a restaurant led by Alain Ducasse and his executive chef Amaury Bouhours, as well as the creations of pastry chef Cédric Grolet.
