Description
Pastry Maison Giannelli stands out for its original range of fine pastries. Its founders, Landes-born Béatrice du Boucher, who trained with the Compagnons du Devoir, and Julien Giannelli, a student of Patrick Delacour, a top pastry chef from La Réunion, fill their display cases with traditional Landes specialties and island-flavored entremets. You'll find tourtières, typical Landes cakes made with dough stretched out on long tables, then flavored with armagnac and rum; nids d'abeille, brioches filled with pastry cream and covered with a caramelized shell of honey and flaked almonds, must-have delights; and pastis landais, brioches flavored with rum, pastis and orange blossom. And for an exotic touch, there's the famous Délice des îles, a banana-pineapple-passion cloud, among other island delicacies. Lovers of sweet treats are in for a treat.
