Venus is a parcel-based cuvée from an old Avize vineyard, corked during its years on the lees. On aeration, the nose opens with fine, ethereal notes of white pepper, Sicilian lemon and menthol. A few seconds later, iodine and marine notes appear. On the palate, we find all the finesse of just-ripe fruit, still crunchy and soothed at the same time. A mineral purity lingers on to an interminable finish. A less expressive cuvée than the 2012, but undoubtedly even more crystalline and scintillating. It seems destined for an even longer destiny. Superb.
