In the Marne department, on the border with the Aisne department, Maxime Toubart cultivates 5 hectares of vineyards in a mixed-farming environment. In Le Breuil, his village, and the surrounding area, there aren’t vineyards stretching as far as the eye can see, but rather a mosaic of landscapes and crops. It is in the heart of the Surmelin Valley—named after the river that runs through it—that he cultivates his Meunier vines (60% of his total acreage), along with a few hectares of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Petit Meslier. From this predominant grape variety comes a 100% Meunier cuvée whose rarity attracts wine enthusiasts.
