Winery presentation by Gault&Millau
Château Manissy, dating from the 17th century, was once owned by the Lafarge family, who specialized in the quarrying of Tavel stone. In 1880, the estate was sold to the Missionary Brothers of the Holy Family. They planted the first vines in 1912. They made their first wines from Tavel terroirs. In 2003, Florian André, a young Tavel winemaker, took over the reins of the estate. To enhance his respect for the vines and the wine, Florian enrolled the entire estate in organic farming in 2009, and in biodynamic farming in 2017. Today, Château Manissy covers 55 hectares in 4 major appellations: côtes-du-rhône, tavel, lirac and châteauneuf-du-pape.
