Gault&Millau's review
"Belin, vigneron bel et bien" is the slogan of this domaine, located in Essômes-sur-Marne in the Aisne region. The estate's history is fairly recent, dating back to the late 1950s, when Henri Planson planted his first hectares at the height of the champagne boom. The first bottle was released in 1963, and by 1970, almost 10,000 bottles had been sold. Today, Gérard and Olivier Belin produce some 35,000 bottles a year. All three main grape varieties are grown here, with a predominance of Pinot Meunier, the region's emblematic variety. Vinification takes place in stainless steel and enamelled steel vats, plot by plot and variety by variety. The estate welcomes you by appointment.
