Gault&Millau's review 2025

Since 1965, Stella d'Oro has been an institution in Bonifacio's citadel. A popular address with locals and tourists alike, who are quick to slap the owners in the kisser. A warm, family welcome. You won't be alone at your table for long, without one of the staff talking to you about the soul of the place, in this rustic and ultimately comforting setting. Connoisseurs don't need to open the menu to make their choice. Eggplants Bonifaciennes and linguine with langoustines are must-tries, as is the lobster pasta, cooked in the oven. For the uninitiated, the "trilogy" is undoubtedly the right option, an initiatory rite, the best of the place remaining the ravioli and eggplant. Suggestions include tiger veal from the Abbatuci estate, an artichoke confit carpaccio, as well as red shrimp from the Circé trawler, and fish whose prices logically match those of the Citadelle. The dessert menu features homemade compositions. The orange tuile is delicious, served with an attractive butter cream. The wine list gives pride of place to local wines, including those from Clos Canarelli, as well as offering some of the great bottles so popular with tourists.
