Gourmet Restaurant Regulars of the previous establishment (La sauce y est) have logically returned to Mathieu, this chic and peaceful suburb of Caen, to sample the offerings of a talented young couple, Clémence Goupil and Alex Néel, who take turns to complement each other, sometimes on the savoury side, sometimes on the sweet side, and even in the dining room. The place has character, cosy and sober, with a pretty veranda opening onto the enclosed garden. The beginnings are encouraging, with a well-crafted €39 menu offering a choice of dishes in keeping with today's tastes, but with a touch of character. Even if, as in the case of this artichoke and egg confit starter with its too-liquid creaminess, the execution is a little lacking, you can see the desire and the potential, for example in a very well-cooked pollack with seaweed butter, embroidered with dashi broth and cockles and a pleasant rhubarb dessert. Cellar under construction, with a small but correct selection by the glass, diligent service, also in simplicity.
