Noah's Ark came ashore in the 17th arrondissement with a charming trio on board: chef Benjamin Arnaboldi, sommelier Thibault Jaffré, and a smiling young woman who welcomes you into this pleasant and comfortable dining room, featuring a table d’hôte in the basement, in a vaulted room overlooking the glass-walled wine cellar. While the daily special left us unimpressed, the à la carte menu piqued our curiosity, featuring a sumptuous slice of calf’s head, flambéed mackerel enhanced with a spicy caper sauce; red mullet with red curry, enhanced by a cashew-garlic-parsley-mint condiment; and, to finish, a freshly baked chocolate tart. It’s a shame the desserts aren’t more captivating, more indulgent, and more varied. We shouldn’t overlook the extensive wine list, which caters to every budget and is beautifully presented by the passionate sommelier who takes pleasure in explaining the selections. This is important, as the list features a wide variety of wines from all regions and includes many estate-bottled wines.
