Gault&Millau's review 2026

You'd almost expect to hop into the restaurant, playing hopscotch, such is the jovial atmosphere. Nananère is the truant school of bistronomy. Roxane leads the class with gentleness and precision, while Arnaud, like a gourmet mad scientist, multiplies happy experiments on the plate. Their kitchen garden in Vallauris supplies fruit, vegetables and aromatic herbs for a cuisine that's joyful, committed and resolutely alive. With the carpaccio of flame-grilled octopus, potatoes and mojo verde, (that lovely green sauce found on tables in the Canary Islands), made with coriander, garlic, cumin and peanuts, or, taken from the list of suggestions, a slice of garden green cabbage, stuffed with a long confit of pork belly, made mischievous by a little old-fashioned mustard and smoked provolone, then topped with a sauce ideal for magnifying the home fries. We finish on a fruity note with a pear in wine, framed by a hazelnut financier and a digestive scoop of yoghurt ice cream for an alibi. In the cellar, the skittles allow you to discover France at a rebellious price, and for the more adventurous, the selection known as "Planque du Proviseur" gives you the chance to touch the forbidden, the rare and the confidential. The 45 € menu is a nice touch. And look, two toques, na!
