Prestige Restaurant There's so much humanity and warmth in this good man that we'd like to pay him nothing but compliments. We'd like to tell him, for example, how one of our meals at his place this year made us rediscover the generous, playful tone that makes the Avenue Duportal restaurant such a mouth-watering destination. And to sweep under the carpet a few of our investigators' reflections on the small number of dishes available (where once abundance was the rule), on certain plates that are repeated from one year to the next and even, on occasion, on the chef's absence. What remains obvious and irrefutable is the ability of this house to shine, to give the best of Occitanie, in its elegant setting, with a brilliant director and a sommelier who also knows how to praise classic work in a menu easily tending towards discovery. We're delighted with these 4-toque dishes: foie gras from Ferme de La Cave, in a warm soup with Belon oysters, the well-crafted Mediterranean red mullet with fennel and anise, smoked with pigeon shoots, spicy tomato jelly, Kalamata olive and riso pasta, rock soup with pink pastaga, creamy lemon pistachio zucchini, or the famous Allaiton lamb in its couscous jus and croquette of shoulder confit with dates, before the delicious strawberry dessert with lavender jelly and meringue, Sichuan pepper ice cream and honey chiboust gratin.. And there's no doubt about the festive spirit, which adds to the sparkle of this restaurant, one of the few "gastro" in France, along with the Jardin des Pourcel, to be able to be as entertaining and relaxed as it is professional.
