Gourmet Restaurant Tables are flourishing in this rue de l'Abbaye in the old town, and standing out is becoming an art. Marcel, part of the Nissachic group (Le Grand Balcon, Boulangerie Jeannot, Plage La Vela...), has been firmly established for the past ten years in its bistronomic surroundings, with the ambience of a bourgeois boudoir from the 1920s. The menu is a melting pot of local specialties: raw artichoke carpaccio with parmesan shavings, pissaladière, Swiss chard pie, ricotta ravioli... and canaille dishes like (fresh) frog legs with Paimpol cocos, Burgundy snails with maître d'hôtel butter. Sometimes, the cuisine takes a regressive turn with coquillettes with ham and Emmental cheese, and finally, it takes us on a journey with cod acras, "real" fish & chips and a hamburger with Fourme d'Ambert cheese... Very good home-made desserts, with tarte Tatin, salted butter caramel cheesecake, chocolate mi-cuit... Good lunch formula at €22 with starter, main course and dessert. Service, under the watchful eye of Alexandre who knows his job, is extremely pleasant. One regret is the limited selection of wines by the glass.
